Of Geeks and Nerds

Holy Week

Katey Creech has graciously explained "the difference between nerds and geeks:
Nerds are more school work/knowledge oriented. They would rarely waste their brain power on video games and tend to shower more often."
I think I can accept that. I think I can even skirt the edges from time to time with an odd round of Halo, and maintain my self-respect in terms of social skills and hygiene...
Geeks on the other hand do play video games as well as card games like yu-gi-oh and magic the gathering. They also care little about their appearance. They know random facts about swords, knives, anime, and odd things like that that are totally useless in life.
Um. Theology always gets to be called useful, because it's the queen of the sciences. Just so you know.

Geeks are also a little more obvious than nerds. I know a couple.

Thanks for posting my words. It makes me excited to be mentioned in someone's blog other than my own and my parents.

Love & Peace,
Katey

Queen of the Sciences? Only geeks say things like queen of the sciences. Oh well, I've got to go play some Yu-gi-oh and study for my test tomorrow in Chemistry, the "Duke of the Disciplines." While I'm at it, I think I won't cut my hair some more. =)

I DEFINITELY fall on the geek side of things. I always saw geeks as more free-spirited (maybe that's just me putting a positive spin on my own lifestyle though?)

I love video/card/board games and am happy to go without a shower...I also have lots of knowledge about generally useless information.

That said, it beats being an uptight square who spends his whole day in the library! HA! ;)

Your new photo almost makes you look grown-up, Kyle...

You are absolutely my favorite nerd. And, if The Jesse is a geek, then he is definitely my all-time favorite geek. Lice or not... (hopefully not, though...)

Ijust wanna know, if theology is Queen of the sciences, who is the King of the sciences?

No gerds allowed!

Katie, thanks for raising our coolness quotient.

A-Dawg, I think it's definately agriculture.

I dunno, beats me.

Probably philosophy.

I have heard philosophy as the Mother of the Sciences.

Geez then who is the father? I'm getting really confused here....

Gee, science must have all kinds of bastard children running around...

My geek husband would be very upset to hear geeks being associated with yu-gi-oh and poor hygiene.

Evangelion, yes. Magic the Gathering and D&D, yes. Yu-gi-oh...no...unless you're under 15. Then you can maybe get away with it and still call yourself a geek.

As for poor hygiene...

Geeks may anti-care about fashion, but they definitely take showers. Geeks are interested in getting girls/boys, and they're smart enough to know that no one wants to date anyone who smells bad.
